Ship, maintain, repeat.

I started building for the web in 2020 and haven't stopped. What I've learned: production software lives or dies on maintainability. Good architecture means the next person — whether that's a colleague or future me — can pick it up without a week of ramp-up.

My work across Laravel, WordPress, and Vue has been hands-on at every layer: requirements, architecture, development, deployment, and the support tickets that tell you what you should have done differently. That feedback loop is where real judgment comes from.

PHP Learning Application

A learn-by-doing PHP playground — concept screens first, then a fully responsive web app for hands-on practice.

  • Chose a flat-file lesson format over a database-driven CMS to let contributors add content without touching SQL.
  • Structured exercises as test-driven — each lesson ends with a failing assertion the learner has to make pass.
  • Went with server-rendered views (no SPA) to keep the feedback loop instant for beginners.

Complete Blog Application

A full-featured blogging platform with posts, comments and an admin area — built end-to-end with PHP and MySQL.

  • Rolled custom session auth instead of using a framework — intentionally, to understand the security considerations involved.
  • Designed the schema with soft-deletes and revision tracking from day one, anticipating content recovery needs.
  • Added prepared-statement query logging to catch N+1 patterns during development.

Random Password Generator

A utility that produces cryptographically strong passwords with configurable length and character sets.

  • Uses crypto.getRandomValues() instead of Math.random() — the latter is not cryptographically secure.
  • Rejected a character-class-guarantee approach (force one uppercase, one symbol, etc.) because it reduces entropy.
  • Kept it zero-dependency and bookmarkable — a single HTML file that works offline.

Facebook Design Clone

A pixel-faithful clone of the Facebook feed UI — a study in responsive layout, components and CSS structuring at scale.

  • Built a CSS grid system that matches Facebook's responsive breakpoints — no framework, just custom grid.
  • Focused on the component tree: reusing Card, Avatar, and ActionBar across feed items, stories, and sidebar.
  • Used CSS custom properties for the theme, making it possible to swap Facebook's blue for any accent in one place.

Data Scrambler

A data anonymisation tool for safely sharing test fixtures — scrambles names, emails and IDs while preserving structure.

  • Designed as a pipeline of faker strategies — each column type gets its own scrambling function, easy to extend.
  • Chose deterministic faking (seed-based) so scrambled data stays consistent across runs, avoiding test flakiness.
  • Kept type fidelity: emails stay email-shaped, foreign keys stay referentially intact.

WordPress Theme & Plugin Work

Years of senior WordPress development at Russkin Bright and WPManageNinja — custom themes, plugins and customer-facing support engineering.

  • Built a support-triage dashboard that cut per-ticket response time by surfacing plugin error logs and system context in one view.
  • Developed a WooCommerce extension that added bulk discount rules without touching the core checkout template — clean separation of concerns through hooks.
  • Learned that the most valuable skill in production WordPress is knowing when not to override a core function and when to extend it.
